“An educator, motivational speaker, and game show host, all rolled up in one … Rob Kapilow’s insightful and entertaining programs … bring moments of revelation to even the most seasoned aficionados.”
— Karen Campbell, The Boston Globe
Rob Kapilow has genuinely earned the title of “celebrity music educator”! Many compare his infectious enthusiasm and remarkable capacity to reveal the subtle and nuanced details that make great music great, to that of the Leonard Bernstein. New listeners and aficionados throughout North America come to hear him again and again.
Launched in 1999 on the Boston “Celebrity Series”, What Makes It Great? has taken on new life in videos and books, but the live presentations, two of which we are very pleased to present this season, are not to be missed.
In this program, Rob explores the Spring and Summer movements of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons, revealing the vivid musical storytelling and ingenious craftsmanship behind these iconic works. He’ll be joined by the brilliant Canadian violinist Isabella Perron and the Canadian Chamber Orchestra—both returning to Music Toronto following acclaimed appearances in our COSE (Celebration of Small Ensembles) series—for an engaging and illuminating musical exploration.
